Highlights from the Gates Collection of African American History and Culture

The Multnomah County Library periodically published reading lists corresponding to current events.  Reference librarians proposed topics for the lists based on the volume of inquiries they received on a certain topic.  This list, circa 1965, reflects the increasing local interest in the subject of African-American history and literature.
